Grilled Steak with Asian Glazed Asparagus

Great for the barbecue with fresh asparagus and Asian glaze.

  • 40 g / 2 tbsp Flora Original Spread, softened
  • 2 spring onions, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 small fresh chilli, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp freshly grated ginger
  • 2 tsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tsp kecap manis
  • 3 bunches fresh asparagus
  • 4 fillet steak, about 125 g each, trimmed of visible fat
  • 2 carrots, cut into batons, to serve
  • 1 red capsicum, slice, to serve


  1. To create Asian spread, place Flora pro-activ, spring onions, garlic, chilli, ginger, oyster sauce and kecap manis into a small bowl and mix well. Set aside.
  2. Trim stems of asparagus and rinse under cold water. Steam or microwave until tender, but still crisp, and toss with half the Asian spread.
  3. Barbecue or grill steak as desired.
  4. Stir fry carrots and capsicum.
  5. Serve grilled steak and asparagus topped with remaining Asian spread and accompanied by the stir-fried carrots and capsicum.
  6. TIP – If kecap manis is not available, use a mixture of reduced salt soy sauce and brown sugar.
