Apple Tart

Enjoy sweet treats while lowering your cholesterol with this dessert recipe.

  • 1 cup self-raising flour
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup caster sugar
  • 30 g / 1 tbsp Flora Pro.Activ Buttery or buttery
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 - 3 cooking apples, peeled
  • 1 tsp caster sugar
  • 1 - 2 tbsp apricot conserve, heated
  • 6 small scoops reduced fat ice-cream, yoghurt or cream for serving


  1. Brush a 34 x 11 cm loose base flan tin with Flora pro-activ.
  2. To make pastry, place flour and cinnamon, sugar, Flora pro-activ and egg in a bowl and mix until well combined. Using lightly floured fingertips, press the pastry into the prepared tin. Chill pastry for 15-30 minutes.
  3. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  4. Slice apples thinly and arrange in an overlapping layer in the prepared tin. Sprinkle with sugar.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown. While hot, brush with the warmed apricot conserves.
  6. TIP– This tart would be superb made with golden delicious apples when in season.
